Textured Hair Fundamentals for Beginners

A practical beginner course for understanding and caring for coily, kinky, and curly African hair. Learn how to identify curl patterns, porosity, density, and scalp needs, then use that knowledge to wash, condition, detangle, and style hair with care. The course also covers client consultation, product selection, and creating healthy, achievable looks such as wash-and-gos, twists, braid styles, silk presses, and defined curls. By the end, learners will be able to assess a Black client’s hair needs and support their desired style while protecting moisture, strength, and long-term hair health.
